Free, No Obligation Assessment

Expert Guidance

Before we take on a new client, we conduct an in-depth, no obligation review of your tax history.  Our team of tax pros are experts at researching tax controversies.  Once we understand the origin and accuracy of your tax problem, we can offer you strategic advice that is suitable to your highly personal, unique situation.

Our Tax Resolution Team is led by Thomas A. McDevitt, MBA, EA.  Tom is a lifelong resident of Philadelphia with deep roots in the River Wards section of the city.  He is a graduate of North Catholic High School, LaSalle University (BS), and Temple University's Fox School Of Business & Management (MBA).  He has been an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) since 2018.  As a professional educator, Tom has taught coursework in theoretical finance, accounting, and taxation to over 5,000 CPA's and attorneys in PA, NJ, and NY.

An Enrolled Agent is a person who has earned the right to represent taxpayers before the IRS. They can only earn the privilege of being deemed an Enrolled Agent by either previously working for the IRS in a tax representative capacity, or by passing a comprehensive IRS test covering individual and business tax returns. Agents must maintain their status by adhering to ethical standards and complete continuing education every three years. This ensures they maintain a high level of knowledge and continue to maintain their elite status in the representation of taxpayers.

Representing You Before The IRS

Declaration of Representative

After we have reviewed your case, and both parties agree to move forward, you will grant us power of attorney by completing IRS Form 2848.  This will allow us to directly negotiate with the IRS on your behalf.  Tax attorneys, CPA's, and Enrolled Agents are the only professionals who are legally permitted to represent you before the IRS.  Unlike attorneys and CPA's who may be limited to practice in their home states, Enrolled Agents can practice nationwide.  Additionally, many tax disputes can be resolved remotely via conference calls and written communication.  Although our firm is located in the City of Brotherly Love, we represent taxpayers nationwide.

How Do We Resolve A Tax Controversy?

In the Resolution Stage, we analyze a large number of variables and determine all possible outcomes for the taxpayer.   Our professional connections and years of practice, skill, and education guide us towards an optimal solution for each and every client.

At The Center For Tax Relief, we have assisted hundreds of Delaware Valley and New York Metro families in the following tax matters:  liens, levies, wage garnishments, installment agreements, audit defense, removing IRS penalties, tax negotiation and settlement (OIC or Offer In Compromise), unfiled tax returns, employment tax liabilities, trust fund recovery penalties, resolving back taxes, and spousal defenses.

If you’re unsure if you qualify for any IRS debt repayment program or forgiveness program, our licensed tax professionals can review your specific situation to see if you qualify. We work with the IRS on your behalf, so you don’t have to navigate the complex tax laws alone.

We also help Philadelphia and NYC area working families and small business owners resolve state and local tax problems. Give us a call today!
